VU cycle stealing slider steals the EE cpu's resources to give it to the VU which handles graphics and thus makes the more graphically demanding games run better, but again it will lower the EE cpus clock speed. Id suggest moving only 1 slider at a time. Right click the shortcut, under properties put in. If you have a shortcut to the emulator right click make shortcutyou set set it to auto do this.

With a GTM you should be able to use x internal resolution when you use hardware rendering. Just to make sure that this isnt causing your slowdowns. So you may have to use software rendering if hardware doesnt work, and it uses your cpu to render, which usually will cause major slowdowns unless you have a very high end desktop cpu.
